  • To allow for maximum student flexibility we do not have scheduled course dates.

  • Call to arrange your class date. We offer flexible options - weekdays – weekends.

  • A 50% deposit is required to register for each course. Upon receipt of deposit we will mail your package of course materials.
  • There is a minimum of 2 students required to hold a class and a recommended maximum of 3 students per sailing class. Call or email if you have other requirements. Discounts are available for 2 or 3 students signing up together.  2 or more signing up together get a private sailing course.

  • Solo/private instruction and lessons on your own boat are options but may incur additional fees.  Please call or email for details.

Introduction to Sailing (non-ASA course)

For those that are interested in knowing what sailing is about – but not sure if the sailing life is for them, this one day introductory course gets you started.  If you wish to continue with additional training then the cost and course time can be applied toward the ASA-101 Basic Keelboat Certification Course offered below.

Cost: $190.00 per student – Two students required for ITS class.

ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing Course

Prerequisites: None   Length: 3 days
Price: $600 (If signing up as single) / $540 (each if signing up with two)

This basic sailing course is designed to get the new sailor off on the right tack. You will learn basic sailing through a combination of classroom and on-the-water instructions.  Areas of Instruction Include: Sailboat Familiarization; Sailing Terminology; Rigging and Sails; Points of Sail, Sail Trim, Tacking and Jibing; Rules of the Road; Safety at Sea; Docking and Mooring; Sailing Knots

ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising Course

Prerequisites: ASA-101   Length: 3 days

ASA 103 is the next step that opens up new sailing opportunities and adventures. This course is designed to teach students coastal cruising skills both as skipper and crew aboard a 31 foot boat with auxiliary diesel power.  Areas of Instruction Include: Nav rules; Safety Equipment; Diesel Engine Operation; Marine Weather and Heavy Weather Sailing; Reefing System; Introductory Navigation and Charts; Emergency Procedures and Hypothermia; and more Knots.

ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising Course

Prerequisites: ASA-101 & ASA-103   Length: 3 days/2 nights
Price: $750 (If signing up as single) / $670 (each if signing up with two)

ASA 104 teaches the skills to sail a 30-50 foot auxiliary sailboat on a Bareboat Charter. Includes one night onboard at anchor and one night aboard at the marina.  Areas of Instruction Include: Cruising Boat Handling and Seamanship; Boat Systems Including Electrical, Engine, Fuel, Water and Head; Fuel Planning, Trip Planning, Provisioning and Meal Preparation; Maintenance Procedures; Coastal Navigation, Mooring and Anchoring; Problem Solving and Trouble Shooting.

ASA 105 Coastal Navigation (Home Study)

Prerequisites: None   Home Study Course
Price $250 (If signing up as single) / $225 (each if signing up with two)

After completing this course the student will be able to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal and inland waters using standard paper nautical charts and navigation tools and techniques.  The course covers: Nautical Charts; Nautical Publications; Navigation Aids; Navigation Tools; Basic Plotting and Piloting; Dead Reckoning; Position Fixes; Wind, Current and Tide Sailing; and Compass Corrections.
Navigation Tools: Parallel Bar and Dividers included.

ASA 105 Coastal Navigation (Instructor Taught)

Prerequisites: None    Length: 3 days
Price: $460 (If signing up as single) / $425 (each if signing up with two)

This is a three-day course with no sailing.  Instructor will teach the same navigation topics as in the Home Study version to prepare the student for the written examination.  Both the Home Study and the Instructor Taught versions of this course include navigation tools (plotter and dividers).

ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising

Prerequisites: ASA-101, 103, 104 & 105    Length: 4 days
Price: $925 (If signing up as single) / $825 (each if signing up with two)

The Advanced Coastal Cruising course is designed to polish the skills of an experienced skipper and navigator. Curriculum includes classroom and extensive on-the-water instruction including an overnight passage, a night at anchor and one night aboard at a marina.
Areas of Instruction Include: Advanced Seamanship; Navigational Techniques; Trip Planning; Provisioning; Meal Planning; Day and Night Sailing Offshore; Emergency Procedures and Boat Engineering; Personal Gear and Safety Equipment; Varied Weather Conditions; Planning and Executing Crew Watches.

Course Length Includes: 4 days and 3 nights accommodations on the water. Meals included are three breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners aboard. Meals & drinks ashore will be at your own expense.
